No depends about it. A 2.4Ghz quad core is very likely a Q6600. The Q 6600 is obsolete by todays standards and a 4th gen i7 4770 is much faster than a Core2Quad. An i7 4770 is the most modern architecture on the market. A Core2Quad Q6600 is almost 8 years old.

difficult to say without knowing which processors you mean, but as I7 4th gen is the latest and one of the best CPUs, I'm 99% sure it's better than whatever other quad core you are referring to.
