disadvantages of changing the gpu fan speed

hey guys! i saw that i can change my gtx 760 oc fan speed. if i change it manually without leting it to auto will i have some disadvantages? ex better psu needed (cause i have a 500watt psu) or damaging the card?

it's only a problem if you force it to a speed lower than the speed it reaches if the card gets too hot. so force at max would be fine. it's also louder but the extra power draw is minimal, shouldn't affect the psu.

ok thanks for the reply man! i forced it to the maximum and it has some noise but i dont care about it. i wont damage the card forcing it to max right? i am using the gpu tweak from asus

The higher speed may wear out the fan a bit faster, just like any other electric motor. As long as it still cools the card decently and you can live with the noise, the card should be fine.

shouldn't cause any damage, the reason for the auto speed is to not spin it too high if not needed, the gpu only gets hot when playing.

you could try to force it max only when you play and leave it auto rest of the time?
