Odd PC behavior, probably the source

Hi guys,

For 3 days now i have some odd symptoms on my PC. When I start it, after 1-3 second, usually when the the mb splash screen appears, the PC completely stops (coolers, source and everything). If I try to start it again nothing happens (like no power comes to PC). If I leave it alone for around 10 minutes its starts by its own will (also if I push the button) and goes in start-up recovery. After it does the check starts and behave normally.

My first guess would be the source, but I don't want to go shopping without proper advice.

Below are the specs:

• Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3
• Procesor AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core 2.1GHz Skt AM2+ Box
• video Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD4670 Zalman 512MB DDR3 128-bit
• Hard disk Seagate 250 GB SATA-II 7200RPM 16MB
• Fortron ATX-400PNF [ ATX-400PNF ]
• KingMax 1GB DDR2 800MHz CL5 [ KLDD4-DDR2-1G800 ] (2 buc x 39,75 RON)
Windows 7

Thanks,
Dodo

Oldoak,

Yes you are right. It is the power supply unit of the computer.
My advice try to get a new power supply with a higher wattage 500 0r 550 W.

Your fortron 400w power supply is a very cheap model.

So it will not last very long. If it was under a lot of power load with the parts you have inside the computer.

Try to buy one with a good quality brand name.
Have a look at least at an OCZ psu.

Thanks Shaun for fast response and advice.

I am thinking to go for Super Flower Golden Green SF-600P14XE(HX) 600W and I suppose will be enough for my PC.

Best wishes,
Dodo
