Hello, I just recently made a switch to PC for gaming. And I was wondering if I am able to put in an ASUS HD 7750 DDR 1gb v2 into my system. Also do I need to get a new power supply if I can.
These are the specs on the computer that I ordered.

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.50 GHz Eight-Core AM3+ CPU 8MB L2 Cache & Turbo Core Technology

MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory (ADATA XPG V2)

MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P AMD 970 ATX w/ Ultra Durable 4 Classic, On/Off Charge, GbLAN, 2 PCIe x16, 3 PCIe x1, 2 PCI

POWERSUPPLY: 430 Watts - Corsair CX430 430W 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

I basically am looking for a card that I can run. That will play skyrim on Ultra setting. will the 7750 do this? Or should i get a hd 7790?

I am afraid my friend that you might have some issues running Skyrim on Ultra with that card. It's a bit week. You could try thought playing Skyrim without the HD dlc pack and get some better FPS.

If you already own the game you don't have anything to loose by experimenting, but i doubt you can get it on ultra, especially with the HD pack installed.

If i was you, i would probably save up a bit more and for something better.

My price range is anywhere from $200 to $250.
I'm not sure what ATI is.....if its a specific brand. Then that doesn't matter to me. As long as its decent quality and can run on my PC and doesn't have a problem playing skyrim on Ultra without problems then I'm happy.

Then i would suggest this one, http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-gtx660dc2o2gd5, i can guarantee that u can play Skyrim on Ultra with HD pack installed and 60 FPS (tested myself with a similar setup to yours).

There are 2 companies that make graphic cards for pc, ATI (the one you have now) and Nvidia (the one i am suggesting you to get), if you don't really care about getting an ATI card again, then i think my solution will work best for you.

But, now you do need a better PSU, this card needs 450Watt and your 430 ofc are not enough. I would recommend a Corsair at 550-600w + 80 plus bronze

I recommend a 660ti or an amd radeon 7870.

These cards run skyrim very smooth.

In fact, i have a AMD Radeon 7870 dual fans, and i love it!

I've heard 660ti is a bit better than the AMD Radeon 7870 though.

OK awesome. Thanks. I would have stupidly bought the 7750.....so which one would be more fps? The 7870 or the 660.......BC the 7870 is in my budget.....and if its better then I would want that one....lol sorry I'm kinda of new at this.
Thanks for letting me know I will need a better power supply too....that would suck if I ruined my system trying to run something like that on low power.

This is my graphics card: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150605, you don't have to get this one though. There are other ones like Sapphire 7870, VisionTek 7870, PowerColor 7870. (These are all companies that produce these graphics cards).

Both of the cards should be in your budget because their price difference is almost nothing. I searched for some benchmarks comparing the gtx 660 to the 7870 and it seems that in some cases the gtx 660 performs a little better while in other cases the 7870 performs a little better. The difference again is not big.

I had a GTX 660 and i was playing on Ultra Skyrim with HD pack installed so i know for sure how this card performs on this game specifically, i do not personally know how 7870 performs on that game (or any other game for that mater), that is why i suggested the 660.

It's you call.

I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to video cards. I think I will do some reaserch and check out the benchmarks for myself so I can learn a better understanding and go from there to decide between the two cards.
But you both have been a huge help and save me some serious dough. Thank you
