Win7 couldn't install, setup menu still shows at boot

I tried installing Windows 7 on my XP machine, and since they don't have drivers for the SB600 it wouldn't complete the install. The computer works just fine with XP, but the annoying part is that the Windows 7 menu still shows up after I boot asking if I want to go into Windows Setup, or my Previous Operating System.

I've looked at msconfig and the startup and recovery options in the control panel and the only OS option it shows is XP. I figure this is hidden somewhere, but do not know where. I am hoping there are some Windows 7 hidden files or something somewhere, but I cannot see anything. I need someone familiar with this OS to help...How can I get rid of this annoyance?

Solution
You would likely have to change the boot file from BootMGR (windows 7) to the normal boot.ini (windows xp) or somehow edit the bootMGR file outside of windows 7. How you do this, not sure, never had to do it. I think Hirens Boot CD has tools for it though.

I think you shouldn't upgrade on your old pc,instead buy a new pc.
You will face compatibility issues sooner or later if it is installed also.

I am not going to proceed with Win7 on this machine, however I need to get rid of the Windows 7 install menu that comes up every time I restart my machine. I need to remove the Win7 startup menu as well as the install files if possible, but the annoying menu at boot is the main issue.

Just cancel the process
Go into boot.ini and delete the line pertaining to the Windows upgrade, or, go into system preferences, set Windows XP as the default and set the timeout to zero. Then you'll never see that prompt again.

As noted, I have checked boot.ini, msconfig, and the usual XP spots and it lists XP as the only option. There is something that is hidden somewhere that pops that boot menu. By default the "setup windows" option is highlighted, and I can arrow down and start XP like normal, BUT the Windows 7 component is still there. As far as XP is concerned, it is the only OS on the drive, and the only startup option. Nonetheless, the Windows 7 menu still pops up.
