Hello,

I ordered a PC, it will arrive soon, but i didn't get a GPU yet. The 280x i wanted wasn't going to be available for another few weeks, so i told them to send it without a GPU.

The case i ordered is an antec three hunderd two. The maximum lengt for GPU's is 31,5cm. This is long enough for every card i have my eyes on currently.

I'm wondering if i will run into airflow problems if get a GPU that is the absolute max length i have available. Or will the heat be able to travel pas the empty drive bays and be exhausted by the fans? Any insight?

I'm currently looking at
- asus 280x top (28cm)
- sapphire 290 tri-x (30,5 cm)
- msi 290x gaming (27,5cm)

Anybody have any opinion on wich 290 card is the better one? Acoustics and cooling being more important than a few fps more, i can always OC later. I can't seem to find any worthwhile reviews for the msi model. Is size something i should really take into account?

Also, should i expect better driver support for the 290 or for the 280x, it's been out for a while now so i guess a lot of optimizing already happened?

Also, don't recommend the gtx 780 please, the 290 is about 400€, the cheapest 780 is €480+.

The airflow shouldn't see that much of a hit. As for which card is the better, they are all the same card with different cooling. The performance isn't really going to see a hit. (maybe 1-5˚ 10˚ MAX) So I would get the one that looks the most appealing to you. Don't let the custom cooling fool you. The drivers for the 2 cards are pretty much the same.

What do you mean by 'dont let the custom cooling fool you'? Its the main reason why you pick a certain brand of gpu isnt it?

Well yes. However, if, for example, ASUS says that they have an "alternative cooling solution" then all that means is that they have maybe more fans, which doesn't do that much, and charge you an extra $40 for it. If a card looks good to you than get it is what I'm trying to say.
