Will an i3 540 Bottleneck a SAPPHIRE TOXIC R9 280X ..?

My PC.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
Primary monitor resolution 1600x900
Antec VP550P / 550W / 2 x 12V Power Rails

yes it would bottleneck... what's your current gpu? For 1600x900 even a 7870/ r9 270x might be overkill. Maybe 7850 would be sweet spot.

Save up for i5 + mobo or with money saved you can probably get i5 ivy/haswell+mobo

Oh yeah. You are going to have a very difficult time playing even with a good GPU, if you keep those other parts.
The games you named are very CPU intensive, especially BF4. You will get very low fps due to the CPU and have trouble playing smoothly.
