Windows 7 Connects to network but no Internet connection

Solution
I'm assuming you are using an ethernet cable? Make sure your router is on (has flashing lights) and plugged up correctly. Make sure you are set to dynamically obtain addresses using the following steps:

Press Start > type "Network and Sharing Center" in the box and press enter > "Change adapter settings" right click on your local area connection adapter and click "properties" > click on "Internet Protocol Version 4" and click properties > make sure that your settings are "Obtain an IP address automatically" and then "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

If all that is good and you still don't have internet access, come back and give us some more details.

Still not connecting. Got new modem and new ISP (U-Verse) but still having the same problem. Cannot connect to internet to update drivers. I am writing from and old Dell Latitude running XP and need to update that soon to either Win 7 or 8. If I do the update will it reinstall the drivers and help solve the problem?

Well you won't be able to download the drivers if you can't get to the internet. Is your modem connected to your router with an ethernet wire running to your computer? Are you using a different computer and internet connection to visit Tom's Hardware (I'm assuming so)? Has your dell latitude been connected to your home internet before (before you switched to U-Verse)? The more details you can provide the better.
