Seagate Barracuda 2TB, good HDD?

Yeah, seagate make good quality HDD's. That one runs at 7200RPM which is what i recommend. Unless you want to be spending a lot more just go with this. Any difference between HDD's at a similar price is going to be negligible.

I had one more question.
Should I scan the HDD right after I install it to see if there is anything wrong with it? Is there any free programs I can scan it with for bad sectors or anything else that could be wrong? There is Error-Checking in Windows, can I just use that?

It's not a necessity to scan the drive right after installing it as you will know whether it works or not right away. You can if you would like though, if you go with the Seagate drive I would recommend using SeaTools to test the drive I have posted it's link below. If you end up going with a Western Digital Drive I would recommend using their tool set Data Lifeguard Diagnostics which I have also included a link to below.
