Need help installing PSU power supply

i just got a new power supply unit in today
this is the one

now the cord that goes to core 2 quad chip/fan right beside my core 2 quad chip/fan
is a 4 prong port or whatever took take out the old psu i had to take out this 4 prong cord

now my new psu has no 4 prong cord only has 6 or 8 prong cords now i can plug in a 8 prong cord into the outlet next to the core 2 quad chip/fan and fits fine i just dont know if i am suppose too

anyone have any tip's or advice for me ? thankyou

What you have on your PSU is a 4+4 CPU header. Some CPUs are power hungry and requires all 8 pins, but your PSU MFG knew that some don't, so they made it so that you can take 4 pins off since your CPU doesn't need all 8, only 4. You are doing it correctly :)
