So I've had my computer for over one year now, and despite a few hiccups, everything has been fine. Suddenly, the strangest problem started occurring: my screen would randomly turn black and the monitor would tell me there was no signal. The screen will remain black until I unplug the DVI cable from the back of my GPU and plug it back in. The image will then resume on the monitor and it will remain stable for random amounts of time. Let me emphasize that I do not get a driver message or an error message at any point, nor does the computer go to sleep randomly. It seems to be that the image output is simply interrupted.

I have a GTX 660 Ti PE and I connect it to my Acer monitor through DVI, not HDMI (my monitor does not support HDMI). Now, I thought that my motherboard was to blame for the issue (I thought it had something to do with the socket), but I just got a new one today and the problem persists. I've installed all the latest drivers from GeForce Experience, and I just (literally 20 min ago) installed my GPU, so I don't think reseating it will help.

Can anyone please help me? It's a very annoying problem that I cannot find the problem to and that has been bugging me for the longest time.

Build:

-ASUS P8Z77-v-LK motherboard
-Intel 2500k i5 "Sandy Bridge" processor
-Acer G226HQLBbd Black 21.5" 5ms Widescreen LED monitor
-MSI N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC GeForce 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5

Faulty cable? Or maybe your GPU went a little too hot in overclocking or something and you fried something maybe a bit

First thing CISCO teaches in regards to troubleshooting-start with physical connections.
Have you tried a different DVI cable? It may not be computer hardware that is troubling you.

Well I have not tried a different cable, so I'll do that first and tell you guys from there. It might take a while since the problem does not happen periodically but rather randomly, and in fact can sometimes go hours or days before it happens again.
