Hi so I just bought a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X and I can't get it to boot to Windows properly when running two 1400p DVI monitors.
Previously, these monitors had been working just fine on a GTX 580.
Rest of setup:
i5 2500k (OC)
ASUS P8Z68-VPro
8gb RAM
Corsair HZ750 PSU
2 x Yamakasi Catleap 27" 1440p monitors
When I have both DVI ports plugged in:
- both screens show the bios post screens
- both show the black windows screen with the coloured animation
- then the screens go dark, they flicker after about 5 seconds, then go dark again
- windows does not boot (no windows desktop boot sound)
- screens stay dark, no HDD activity
***But*** it has worked twice out of about 30 attempts...so the DVI port is capable of putting out that resolution. If I reboot then it stuffs up again. Even swapping which screen was '1' and '2' for the Windows desktop made the screens go dark and hang the second time....
When I have one monitor DVI in port 1 and nothing else:
- usually works fine
When I have one monitor in DVI port 2 and nothing else:
- sometimes works
When I have one monitor in DVI port 1 and the other monitor connected by HDMI @ 1080:
- works fine
SO, my question is whether it is sounding like a software or a hardware issue???
What should I do, is a re-format required or would that be pointless?? I have reseated the GPU and reinstalled the drivers.
Thanks
*frustrated*
Additional info:
The AMD driver autodetect app says it can't detect the device, it shows the hardware as 0x1002 0x67B1 PCIE and doesn't recommend a driver...
It will boot as duplicate low res displays in safe mode.
