I saw from a prev thread that the only difference is the TDP and clock speed though clock speed is negligible.

So here's my question. I have a DELL XPS 27 AIO whose current i5 i'm looking to upgrade. Its high end brethen sport i7 3770s. So instead of a 3770s do you folks think I can use a regular 3770? The reason for this is COST. the 3770 seems to be cheaper than the 3770s *at least on ebay*

Thanks in advance.

The 3770s is just a lower power variant of the regular 3770. If sure the regular one would work anywhere the S does. The Xeon is so great because it is SO much cheaper than the 3770. Like $80-90 cheaper, and it's only 4w more than the S.

One last question, if my AIO doesn't have a graphics card in it, and this Xeon doesn;t come with integrated graphics, what will I do when it comes to my builtin display? Need to get a separate graphics card?

You would need to get a video card if you went with the 1230v2. Other option would be to get the Xeon e3-1245v2 that does have integrated graphics. It's also 100mhz faster than the 1230v2. It still comes in $30-40 cheaper than the 3770.

CTurbo, this is GREAT information so far. Looking at the Xeon e3-1245v2 with its integrated graphics the P4000 vs the i7-3770s with its HD4000, looks like the Xeon's graphics is slightly better than the 3770s'. From looking at Intel lit, "Intel Graphics P4600" it states the that P4000 is an improvement over the ones in the i series. also that it's meant for workstations vs normal desktops. Also in an Intel ARK forum, it states it's the same controller. Having said all that, shouldn't pose a problem for my AIO whose mobo was designed to carry the i7-3770s? Thanks in advance.

another question. the current TDP for my Dell AIO is 65W. the Xeon's TDP is 77W. Given that it's an AIO and not a full blown desktop will this TDP make any difference? I don't want my AIO to melt! thanks!
