Hey Stan, If I did that I'd have to buy a new OS too. It's OEM.
Also I'm wondering if a new processor will affect any other software licences, such as my recording software, etc
.......really expensive stuff if I had to buy new licenses. Cheers!

Thanks! That's all good news! I'll consider that if I can't find the right processor at a reasonable price.
Far as I know there's nothing proprietary in the case.
I don't really think the motherboard is a big problem and there's lots of ram plus a new soundblaster card, new video card and plenty of room left on the HD. I also have my last computer HD in there as a slave drive.

Question: Is the IP address attached to the hard drive, the motherboard, the cpu, or what? I presume that how legit software is recognized. Stan or anybody? Thanks

One poster even says he got a AMD Phenom II x4 925 2.8ghz to work.

Great! Thanks! That really helps! I'll start looking for one of those. I might try to upgrade my power supply at the same time.Mine maxes out at 240w and I already have an extra hrd dr, 2 pci cards and a usb audio interface running off it. Good idea do you think? One poster recommends an ANTEC 450 Cheers!
