Which GTX 660 is better ?

Hey,

I know the main difference between the many GTX 660 -es out there is the cooling system. I know the clock rates of some ar ehigher, and that they barely increase FPS , maybe 5 more. But I'm wondering which GTX 660 between these 2 is quieter under load.

It is clear that Gigabyte is bit louder under load. But still it does a good job. Go for Asus.

Question hasn't been solved. The sound tests and reviews from XbitLabs shows 38 DB for the Gigabyte one when playing Batman AC but for the Asus one, it only states 53 DB max .

They're both priced similarly and I don't really care about the looks, but both Asus and Gigabyte are Reputable brands that make decent GPUs

Yeah, of course there would be noise made, but Gigabyte's cooling has bigger fans and Asus supposedly has better quality parts. So which is quieter ?

well i think it is not possible to know which is more quiet but i assume it is better to go with quality parts than basing which is more quiet

According to techpower asus load fan noise is 26db whereas gigabyte is 37db

Pl check online various results on Gigabyte card, one thing is common that they are noisy. Btw why are you sticking with only these when you have option with EVGA as well!

EVGA supposedly has better support but their cooling system on the GTX 660 is pretty much the same as the reference card, just that that overclocked it and placed a superclocked sticker on it.

The heatsinks under the hood are all covered so wouldn't that mean that Asus' and Gigabytes' cooling system is better ?

covered = not much airflow
open = better heat dissipation

Raheel's link seem pretty convincing though. And furthermore, the Gigabyte GTX 660 is $10 cheaper

My case doesn't have a side window so the looks doesn't matter at all.

The Windofoce 2x also has more heat pipes.

But then everyone says that Asus has higher quality parts. Is that really true ?
