Hello.
I have a wireless router in the office room upstairs.
The device I would like to connect to this network via ethernet cable is Blu-ray disc player (doing this will allow us to live stream films from LoveFilm straight on our TV). This player is in the lounge which is downstairs, at the moment the only solution I am familiar with is to drill holes through walls and then connect the ethernet cable from the router to the player.
I would like to know if there is another option that would save us drilling the holes, for example some portable router that would connect to the existing network, it would be plugged in the lounge and we could wire it from this to the player.
Any help is welcome. Thank you.

You likely will not be happy using wireless to do this. Streaming video in general over wireless tend to be hit and miss. Streaming huge video like blueray is almost asking for a failure. You need a very strong and interference free wireless signal which sometime you cannot even get in the same room.

In any case what you are looking for is called a client-bridge. There are many device that all called "extenders" or repeaters that have this function. You want to use the client-bridge part only having it repeat the wireless signal will make the wireless issues even worse.

Another option is to use powerline networking. These use your home electrical wire to provide the network. These tend to work better but they are still a form of radio transmission just over wires. Generally they are less likely to get random interference than wireless but there are things in the house...like many vacuum cleaners that can kill them very easily.
