Problem with GTX780 + FX8350

I recently purchased a GTX780 for my system, and I did a lot of research on whether my CPU would bottleneck the card. I also currently only have a Corsair CX600w PSU, and did a lot of research about if the 600w would be enough, and it seemed as though it would.

My system seems to be running fine, there isn't a lot of noise or huge amounts of heat. But sometimes when I'm playing games there will be sudden lag spikes and I'm curious about the cause of this. For example, when I'm playing Counter Strike GO, my FPS will drop from around 200-300 all the way down to 30-40. This is really annoying when in a competitive game. Another example is in Far Cry 3, it seems smooth at 60fps solid but suddenly drops to 20fps for no apparent reason.

So what I think is wrong is not enough power to the GPU, though I may be wrong, so I just wanted to get a few peoples opinions before I go buy a new PSU.

Thanks in advance - also, long time reader, first time poster!

Full system:
AMD FX8350 at stock clocks
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard
16GB DDR3 RAM
OCZ 120GB SSD for windows/key apps
1TB Hitachi HDD
3TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

Can't really think of much else.

Thanks for the fast response, so the 600w is enough?
Never had this problem until I got the more powerful GPU. If that's the case I'll order the new Mobo within a week

EDIT: I see that you seem to know what you're talking about when it comes to motherboards, would it be a wise idea to upgrade to a slightly higher end motherboard such as this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/M5A97-EVO-R2-0-Motherboard-eS-ATA/dp/B008RPZ5H8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1391172434&sr=8-3&keywords=Asus+M5A97

Or, do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help and sorry for being a bit of a noob

I think 600w would be enough but it might not leave any more upgrading/oc space available; if you can, get a 750w psu (preferably XFX or seasonic).

I have the Hyper 212 Evo. Like I said, it's not running hot.

It was the motherboard though, bit the bullet and bought a decent mobo (Asus M5A99fX Pro r2.0) rather than keeping my old budget one. Also got a Corsair CXM750w PSU. All seems to be working well now, Far Cry 3 on Ultra on more than 60fps. Thanks for all the help guys
