Hello guys! Ok i have this situation that i have an Old dvd player which has 5.1 audio can be seen in the link, and the 2nd picture shows the ports in my TV, the 3rd picture in the link shows the other side of the old dvd player.

So i want to buy a new player which is ASUS O! Play mini which is USB Media player and the image below is the ports of the USB media player.

The question is, how can i make the USB player use the 5.1 audio of my old dvd player?

HTIB = home theater in a box

basically the sets which have a dvd player/receiver combo and all the speakers in one big box. they are typically rather cheap quality (though some arent cheap price) and sometimes have very limited expandability options. i've even heard of silly things like one having a hdmi port for other inputs but intead of 5.1 it only had 2.0 sound. yeah... silly stuff like that which is why i said to check your system manual or info to see if you have such limitations.

of course i've also seen plenty which work with auxilliary inputs with surround sound perfectly fine. its not a guaranteed issue and it could just work flawlessly. still needed to mention it though.
well i would say to hook it up via hdmi to the tv and then via optical to your dvd player receiver which is probably one of those ones which was in a HTIB set. however you may want to look in your users manual to see if it accepts a surround sound 5.1 signal in this manner. some HTIB units are pretty limited and dont play well with other inputs.
