Hi guys, im new to overclocking and have got a stable oc at 4.6 ghz on my i5 4670k but struggling to find the answer to my question.

I have Turbo mode in BIOS so should i put my stable oc settings in there? im not 100% sure what turbo mode is. Am i right in thinking if i have it in turbo mode that my pc will run at the normal 3.4 ghz and then boost to my OC settings when needed? if this is correct i think this would be better for me rather than running at 4.6 all the time

The I5 features power saving, meaning it will down clock when it does not need the extra Hz. So you will not run at 4.6 all the time unless you are stressing the machine. Typically when idle a cpu will run at Blck X 8, which as standard is 800Mhz.

Run CPU-Z when idle and look to see that the Core Speed shows. My guess will be it is minimal. 800Mhz - 1Ghz
