can you use mineral spirit instead of alcohol to clean cpu

LOL. I don't like changing it. Avatars are who we are. I think of me when I see this pic. I dislike when people change their avatars as I have to associate a new pic with an old name.
I've heard some countries don't allow rubbing alcohol because people will drink it. I find this hard to believe as rubbing alcohol will kill you. The guy claiming this never replied though judging from his name he was in the middle east somewhere. I tried using vodka once and it didn't work very well. Neither did my 151proof Everclear. 90% rubbing alcohol works best and is what I use.

After 4 years I changed my avatar to this photo that I took in Arches National Park (Utah). The uphill climb on slick rock to get to the viewing area was a killer. And when I took this pic, there was a group of about a hundred college students from France under Delicate Arch!
You are absolutely right on the rubbing alcohol. Some people do drink it and undergo disastrous results. However, alcohol swabs are available everywhere.
I use a combination of alcohol swabs and/or gun cleaning patches (lint free) dipped in 70% Isopropyl alcohol. (I won't waste my Vodka on cleaning a CPU!)

I only tried it because the night I was working on that board I didn't have any rubbing alcohol. I tried the drinking alcohols as they were what I had on hand. They both basically did nothing and I simply bought some proper stuff the next day. Passing the info on in this thread as I thought it might help.
