Samsung 840 Evo 120GB - Freezes when starting Samsung Magician

Hello,

I just purchased my new SSD and did a fresh install of Windows 8.1. I installed the Samsung Magician 4.3 software and whenever I try to start it and it says ''Analyzing the drive'' or something like that, my computer freezes. Completely. I can't move my mouse or anything. I reinstalled the software multiple times and still no results. I also checked if it was in AHCI and it was. Is there something wrong with my SSD or is it just a software bug? What could I do to make it work?

PC Specs:

CPU: i5 3570k (3.4GHZ)
MOTHERBOARD: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155
GRAPHIC CARD (GPU): Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 860MHZ 2GB (non-oc)
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo Series MZ-7TE120BW 120GB
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM
RAM: Corsair 2x4gb (8GB) DDR3-1600
PSU: Corsair TX750 V2 (750W)

See if this works:

1.) Uninstall Samsung Magician again.
2.) After that is complete delete the Samsung folder that is in the C:/Program Files (x86) folder.
3.) Reboot system
4.) Reinstall Samsung Magician

Your motherboard has 4 SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ports. Double-check that your SSD is connected (in AHCI mode) to one of the Intel 6Gb/s ports (SATA3_0 or SATA3_1), not to one of the ASMedia 6Gb/s ports. See page 13 of your motherboard manual for the location of the ports.

It is indeed connected to a Intel 6GB/s port.

In my case none of the above worked on my Windows 8.1 computer, but I happened to change the default Red SATA cable for a premium SATA cable with locking ends I happened to have, blue color and then it worked. Previously in Safe Mode (F8) Administrator (right click) I had managed on one time to view the Magician screen and it said it was not in AHCI mode - though checking CMOS it was. After changing cable it now agrees it is in AHCI mode .

I am going to be replacing all my SATA Cables with these locking end style, 6mb .
