You cannot get gaming 4K monitor for reasonable prices, Asus had their 4K monitor on sale for 2.5K though.
However you can get a 4K TV for less than 1K but they will struggle with gaming though.
Also, is your PC capable of passing 4K at atleast 30FPS.

Get an ASUS PB278Q http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009C3M7H0. It's a 27" 1440p IPS panel monitor with high quality color accuracy.
You could also wait for the 1440p 144Hz IPS gaming monitor that ASUS is coming out with but it will probably cost more than $1k.
