I got a new MSI GTX 770 today and am unable to get my computer going with it. When I boot it up, several beeps are heard and nothing happens after, nothing boots up. Doing some research, I think the problem is either with my PSU or Mother Board.
The GTX 770 requires two 8pin PSI connectors that my PSU doesn't have, mine has two 6pin PSI connectors. The card did come with two 6 to 8pin PSI converters that I thought would fix this problem, but may be the reason it isn't working.
The other problem a lot of people seem to have with upgrading GPUs is not having compatible mother boards, which I know very little about.

Quick replys to what the problem might be is appreciated. I am willing to get a new PSU with proper 8pin connectors, and a higher max power, for mine barely meets the requirements at 600. But don't want to get one if un needed.

My specs are:
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770k CPU @ 3.50GHz (8 CPUs) ~3.5 GHz
System Manufacturer(motherboard): Hewlett-Packard
System Model(motherboard): H9-1387
PSU: HP, HQ-TRE, 71004 (600W)
Ram: 16GB

I cant find any info on your PSU. You have enough wattage , but the problem is if you have enough amperage on the 12v rail. Look on your PSU sticker if you can and see what the +12v rating says.

Ok, thanks for the help, don't have much problem with that.
Any suggestions on what would work well? I see that I need 600W and 42A minimum, but I also would like to make sure that I have the necessary two 8pin PSI connectors for the graphics card. I unfortunately don't know as much as I'd like about computer components. I won this GTX 770 in a competition at the company I work for, so it's not something I can return.

Congrats on the win, the 770 is a great card!

Look for a seasonic/xfx minimum 600W. All modern PSUs should have the 8pins, but it doesn't hurt to double check the product info before you purchase.

42amps on the 12V rail, and 2 PCI-e 8pin connectors is what you are looking for.
