I'm using the amd a10 7850k with 4gb of corsair vengeance at 1866mhz but my video game quality is horrible. I'll play fifa 14 and even at lowest settings I'm getting barely 9fps and the image quality is still horrible! I've installed all the latest drivers, deleted temporary files, set windows to optimise gaming etc but nothing helps. I haven't tried any other games as this is a new build, so as you can probably guess I really want my only game to work. Thanks in advance.

That does seem a little low. I'd try a benchmark game, (Tomb raider, Bioshock infinite, skyrim, etc...) and see if you're getting performance in line with the benchmarks.

I would if I could but I don't have any other games to benchmark

Perhaps it's the RAM? If I'm not mistaken, APUs benefit greatly from more/faster RAM.

That could be part of the problem but the a10 7850k played battlefield 4 at 30fps 1080p mid without a dedicated gpu at demos so I'm not too sure that the ram would drop fifa to 9fps.

I'm not completely sure where you got the info about BF4 at 30FPS with the new 7850K, but do you happen to know what the specs of the rig that was running it to be getting 30FPS?

Judging by Tom's article of the 7850k:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/a10-7850k-a8-7600-k...

They were using 2x8GB 2133 RAM, and getting ~28 FPS @ Medium/1080p on Bioshock Infinite, and ~49 FPS on Grid 2 @ Medium/1080p.

The 7850k's IGPU is comparable to the 6670/7750. On the catalyst, make sure that image filtering is @ performance. I've found absolutely no difference in image quality with that setting @ quality/high quality, yet it ruins my FPS; when I compared the settings with my 6670, anyway.

I couldn't find the exact test but here are the specs for a machine running bf4 med at an average of 27fps :
APU: AMD Kaveri A10 7850K
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance at 2133 MHz
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda at 7200 rpm
PSU: Corsair 430W Builder Series
ODD: Asus DRW-24F1ST DVD±RW
MoBo: Asus A55BM-A/USB3 (FM2+)

The only options on my catalyst control centre under performance are CPU power and AMD OverDrive

Gaming -> 3D Application Settings -> Texture Filtering Quality -> Performance

There's no option for gaming, the four main options are pinned, presets, performance and power

I installed catalyst again and did what you said and now it plays on high settings with good fps! I can't thank you enough mate

And since we're on the topic of your APU, see how RadeonPro fares. With previous IGPUs, it doesn't work well. Couldn't hurt to give it a try with Kaveri :D
