I removed the heatsink from my lenovo T61 yesterday and replaced the thermal paste on the CPU & GPU. After I reassembled everything, the heatsink fan would only spin for a fraction of a second on boot and stop. Then I downloaded TpFanControl. On the mode setting, if I choose BIOS (embedded controller) or Smart (TPFanControl.ini), on the 'SPEED' section, it would display 'Off', but if I choose the manual mode and key the number from 1-7, the fan would run. It seems like the fan can run manually, but what has lead to this and what are the possible solutions to fix this problem? Thanks for you time!
