Hi, over Christmas i received gtx 780. I installed it and used it for an hour when my psu died and killed my motherboard. I have since replaced the motherboard and the psu, everything works fine (cpu, gpu, ect), apart from my hard drives which do not power on or get recognised in the bios.

I have looked online to find a solution but haven't been able to, i have tried changing the sata power cables, changing the sata cables, changing which sata connectors on the motherboard i plugged the hard drive into, updating the bios and making sure that the sata connections are turned on in my bios as well, none of these have helped. Could my hard drive be dead?

Do you have any friends with computers? try hooking up your hard drives to one of their systems and seeing if they can detect them. Which hard drives (model #s) you have might be important as well. there could be some jumper settings or something we're not aware off.
But it does sound likely they could be dead.

If you need your data, then, depending on the model of your drive, and depending on the nature of the damage, you can purchase a replacement PCB (including a firmware transfer) for US$50. Be aware that a straight board swap will most likely not succeed in modern drives. Most PCBs have unique, drive specific information stored in flash memory. These "adaptive" data need to transferred from patient to donor.
