Hi all!

I just bought a Gigabyte Radeon R9 280x OC 3GB graphics card and my PC shuts down almost immediately when starting to render 3D graphics. The PC restarts automatically and BIOS says something about shutting down the system to protect it. Then it boots normally after that.

My system is:
i7-3770 CPU
ASUS P8H77-V
2x4GB Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600
Latest Catalyst drivers (13.12)
Nox Urano 600W PSU
Gigabyte R9 280x OC 3GB

My first guess is that I need a better PSU. I'm thinking about purchasing a Tacens Valeo V 900W.

Could my guess be correct? The system was working OK before changing the graphics card (the old one was a Gigabyte GTX560 OC 1GB).

Thanks in advance!! :)

Well I believe it should be the power supply. It is best to go for a well known brand like Corsair, Seasonic, XFX.

That power supply only has 43A on the 12 volt rail. You should get a new one that has closer to 50A and at least bronze certified

Hmmm... How about the Corsair CX750M?

After installing the Corsair CX750M, it worked fine but the PSU was emitting that famous buzz/coil whine during 3D gameplay. I replaced it with a Corsair AX760 and now we're talking :)
