USB 3.0 port preventing boot of opsys and suspend to Sleep Mode

My external hard drive USB 3.0 is plugged into my USB 3.0 port on a Lenovo T430 laptop which prevents my opsys from booting beyond the BIOS splash screen and, also, prevents the entering of Sleep Mode. Upon resume from Sleep Mode the device is shown as USB Device Not Recognized. And these events do not occur when plugged into a USB 2.0 port except for the USB Device Not Recognized error still happens. Hope this is understandable to everyone and I am looking for a resolution to these events. Thanks.

Yeah, been there and done that. :) I'm beginning to think it's the USB 3.0 chip in the external hard drive enclosure is flakey. Things work though if I plug it into a USB 2.0 port except the drive is NOT recognized when sleep resumes as I mentioned earlier. Thanks for the heads up.

You may be right about the internal USB 3.0 chip on the laptop. Don't know but am keeping my eyes out for an ultimate resolution. Could be a driver issue, too, don't you think?
