Hi Guys, I have 12 cat5e ports on my office which are all wired into a patch panel. I want to use one port to run a normal bt phone so I purchased a cable off eBay which has a standard UK phone connection on one side and RJ45 on the other i simply put one side into my ADSL filter and other side into the patch panel. On the other end in the office I purchased a PABX master adapter which I plugged into the RJ45 and put my phone in but there's no dial tone! Any suggestions please? Thanks

If you are pluging a digital phone into a digital PBX then it may take some figuring out.

If this is your normal run of the mill analog phone. You just plug the RJ11 plugs directly into the RJ45 on both ends. The middle 2 pair line up exactly. You can run up to 2 analog lines. The only slightly hard thing is that you many times need to use a screwdriver or something to depress the clip on the RJ11 when you want to remove them...at least when you have big fingers
