Okay, so this is the first time this happened to me ever. I honestly have never seen this and I have been gaming on pc for years. I was playing Splinter cell blacklist and all of the sudden the screen just went red, bright red. Only way to fix it was to reset my computer which brought it back to normal. Not sure if anyone else experienced this and if it is the game itself or my hardware(hope not). Here's what I am running and thanks in advance.
FX 6300 @4.4ghz
MSI R9 280x 1100mhz/1550mhz
Asus m5a97 r2.0
7200rpm hdd
8gb ddr3(4gbx2)
SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze
Windows 8.1 x64
Edit: I have heard of problems with the MSI VRM temps but I have installed the bios update from techpowerup (http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/146769/msi-r9280x-3072-131009.html) that is supposed to fix that issue and haven't had any problems with any other games until now.

Seeing if I can reproduce the problem in other games such as bf4 and tomb raider but I am not seeing it occur again so it could just be a game bug. Also, thought I should mention I am using the 13.11 beta 9.5 drivers. I have tried the new WHQL but felt they underperformed compared to the latest beta and didn't bring about any worthwhile changes so I reverted back until 14.1 gets released.
I have read of some people getting this red screen but didn't get a clear answer as to exactly why it occurs so if someone could shed some light on this, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Okay...but this one was red. :p I have heard of green screens before but not red so that is why I was unsure. Samething?
Anything I can do in this situation? Also why did it only come up during splinter cell and not any other games even the ones that are more graphically demanding such as bf4?

Yeah, anything to prevent it from happening again or is it something that really doesn't happen often? I'm guessing it is since I have only experienced it once.
Edit: done some research on this and it seems to be conflicting software or ram. I was running fraps at the time, could that be the issue? I never had this issue with fraps before though. Also my ram is running at slightly relaxed timings because that was required to get my cpu OC stable.

If it manefests itself again, I will try lowering my r9 280x memory oc from 1550 to 1545 and so on until it stops. My oc has been stable for months of gaming though and has passed several benchmarks without any issues. Nonetheless, I am seeing that this might be the cause of the issue.
