I just purchased a Acer Aspire M M5-583P-6637 and am putting the SSD from my HP laptop into it which has windows 8 x 64. I put it in but it doesn't recognize it or any bootable device. Is my only option to reinstall windows to the SSD while it is in the new laptop? I was hoping to just throw the SSD into it.

I can find the SSD in the bios but there are no options besides setting as the first bootable drive but then it doesn't recognize it and says no bootable device.

Thanks,

Brad

You cannot simply move a hard drive with a windows install from pc to pc. One, the hardware is different, so you have all the wrong drivers installed, second, the install is licensed to the original pc, it wont re-activate if it is an oem version of windows.
