My son's laptop will not get on the Internet, but all of the other computers on my home network will. Some are wireless and some wired. Phones, tablets, etc. work. I've tried releasing the IP address, updating the driver (which was limited since I couldn't get on the internet) and uninstalling it and reinstalling the driver. It won't work wired or wirelessly.

Solution
This may be odd but take the laptop to somewhere with free wifi and try to connect to theirs. If it still doesn't work call the PC manufacturer and if you are still under warranty file an RMA.

While an unlikely culprit, make sure you have a large enough IP Address pool for your router's DHCP service. Make sure the laptop runs the same wireless protocol your router does (A/B/G/N/AC). Make sure the laptop is able to handle the security hash (WEP, WPA, WPA2) that your router is using.

checked out everything you suggested......all good. His computer was previously able to get on the internet and function fully for a while, but now cannot. I can ping everything on the network and even websites like google and disney which leads me to believe that it is getting out. I just can't get on any webpages. I am using IE an am thinking about installing firefox or another browser to try that. Any other suggestions?

Try firefox and see how that goes. If you can ping external websites, then I think you may have a browser issue
