First, I am not very technically educated so I need the most detailed responses please.

A little bit of background. I use to use an Nvidia Gtx 560, and I couldn't play games such as Counterstrike GO, Saints Row 3, or Darksiders 2 (All requiring DirectX 11). These games would crash on launch, my monitor will go to sleep and i'd get a blue screen.

Today I have purchased and Evga Nvidia Gtx 660 Super Clock graphics card. This was my first time putting in a new graphics card. I got everything managed and it went fine. I booted up my PC, I installed the latest driver via Nvidia. I went to play Red Orchestra 2, i got into servers fine, I went into selecting my team and my game froze, i timed out, I selected another server and my computer rebooted itself without turning off, the screen went black and starting loading up again as if i turned it off but the computer did not turn off it was still running while this was happening. I took out the Gtx 660, dusted everything in my computer because frankly it was a little dirty. Put the graphics card back in. I went in to play some DayZ Stand Alone, after about 15 minutes my computer restarted like it did before. I also tried playing Saints Row 3 again, selecting "DirectX 10/11), and the same issue occurs, although I haven't received a blue screen yet.

So my final attempt to fix this thing was uninstalling the Nvidia Drivers, took out the graphics card, put the graphics card back in, reinstalled the drivers, and i played some DayZ Stand Alone, and instead of restarting, my computer just freezes instead of going black. This happened twice. I have no idea why this is happening.

What confuses me is that all my games worked with my 560 except those few requiring DirectX (which i dont know why that doesn't work either) and now with my 660 none of the games last without crashing and at this point as far as I know, they freeze.

Here are my specs.

AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor 3.3 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Dedicated Memory 2.0 GB
Total Memory 3.9 GB
Memory 8.2 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Display Maximum Resolution 1440 x 900

Thanks for reading, I could really use the help, its a downer spending money on a computer I can't play games on.

It sounds power related but you may as well do a proper temp check with HWMonitor or similar. A decent 450W power supply would be fine but I have no idea what Azza are loke so I suspect you have a 300W power supply with a 700W label like many budget power supplies. It could also be software related ie a virus or something, your old card should play all the games just at lower settings.

Well recently I put in my Gtx 560 and i can game again, and another guy had an issue with his 660 where he sent it back for a new one and the same issue occured, and then he swapped out his power supply and it fixed it. So im assuming my power supply isnt being compatible with my Gtx 660 but yet it works with my Gtx 560? which both are same watts. My PSU is an Azza 700w idk what the model number is. I did check my temperatures with HWmonitor last night when i had my Gtx 660 and i couldn't really understand what I needed to look it. The max temperature ive seen on any of the hardware is 176 F (80 C) but i can't confirm what they are minimum.

My conclusion so far is that it's my PSU. What do you think? I just dont understand how it could work with a 560 but not a 660 when its the same wattage.

Well if it was a 300 Power Supply would it not run my 560? my 560 is a 450w and the 660 is a 450w. Ive never had an overheating problem before, atleast i don't think. Ive been using a 560 for a year now and the only problem ive ever had with it is some games like Saints Row 3 and CS:GO crash my computer, and i think that has to do with DirectX which i still dont know how to fix.

This is what my temperatures are now currently with my Gtx 560 not Gtx660. You can see what I am currently running on my dock at the bottom of the screen.

1st thing I notice is the CPUTIN temp must just be wrong as if it was getting to 102C it would just fry it and the package temp only hits 40C. I assume these temps have not been checked while gaming as the 560 has not changed so play a game for 10 mins with the program open and post what it says after that.

I am not currently at my house with the computer, and I dont think I will be for 2 weeks now. So if you could wait until then ill be glad to come back with that information. Unless you can conclude that its most likely my computer overheating? If so how do I fix this? What products do you recommend?

Pictures are back, the CPU is a little high but not overheating. Try running prime 95 and the GPU test in OCCT individually and together (while keeping an eye on temps) and see if either both or only combined cause a crash. If not try it again with the new card.

Sorry i haven't responded in a while. I don't know how to do what simon12 said. Does anyone have a direct answer or anything? This really is frustrating, after the post I just gave up. The graphics card just sits in a box on the shelf.
