Yes i have tried internet explorer 9 the latest version, and thats where it tells me to do all this stuff to make windows update which doesnt help. Do you know how to just change my display adapter from RAGE to something newer, such as Radeon or Fire Pro??

Umm to change it you need to get a whole new video card. which you have to find out if it is even compatible if your PC to begin with. If you are running a Rage 128 Pro which is a AGP video card and they don't make AGP video cards anymore (At least not any that are any good) They do make some PCI video cards that are half way decent. Not like Play Battle Field 4 cards though. Might want to just get a whole new PC for that one. But if you are running windows XP Internet Explorer 8 is the last support IE browser for it.
You can try this. Open up Control panel then Click on Internet Options. Then click on Advanced and then click on Restore Advanced Settings and then click on the Reset button. here its up to you to check the box to delete personal data. Its best if you do but all saved passwords, sites and what not will be erased but not your favorites though. And then try doing windows updates again.
