So, when i built my pc (specs below) it was running 45c idle, and over 80c when gaming on the stock cooler. I thought this was hot, so bought an arctic cooling freezer7 pro rev 2, which made no difference. So, yesterday, i got a CM Hyper 212 evo, but it still hasnt made a difference!

What am i doing wrong? i haven't overclocked, so why is it so hot?

specs:
A8-5600k
Sapphire r7770 ghz oc edition
Asus F2a55-m lk
Corsair cx500m
1tb hdd
8gb ram

Solution

On that Asus board users have reported that the Northbridge runs very hot; hotter than the Southbridge. And their solution was to install a small fan blowing air directly at the Northbridge. The Northbridge is closer to the CPU.

This will explain the location...

Ok, but I built it in August, so I probably can't return it now... Any other solutions?

could hw monitor be reporting the wrong temps? MY mither board is asus, and the asus AI suite says it's running at about 30c when hwmonitor reports 50c. which should i believe?

i tried core temp, but it just reports 0c, which definitely isn't right.

Asus is showing the HWMonitor TMPIN1 reading - what is the difference between HWMonitor's TMPIN1 and the package temperature? Which should i look at?

Realtemp is for Intel CPUs only mate =/

If I recall correctly AMD did not include thermal sensors (for the cores) with that APU, so the package temp is the only thing you have

Run a game with Coretemp in the background and check the maximum temperatures you get (sorry, never played around with HWMonitor before)

If you're still getting those high temperatures, then you might as well try cleaning off your current paste with Isopropyl Alcohol, then re-apply a fresh bit of paste and ensure that your cooler is tight and secure afterwards

no, it doesn't have a display, in bios the temp was about 25-30c, so should i trust the TMPIN1 or package?

I just ran prime95 blend for 30 mins, but my TMPIN1 was far lower than the package - which do i believe?

TMPIN1
MIN: 26c
MAX: 43c

PACKAGE:
MIN: 40c
MAX: 78c
