why windows crashes when i play black flag after comleting 17% of my game

Is it a purchased copy of the game or a pirated version ? Could be part of the DRM scheme for the game checks for authenticity at that point of the game and it is not passing the check for some reason (either a pirated copy or the authentication server is having problems)
