Hi,

I just bought next 4GB of memory ram to have 8GB altogether.

However when I get the package the memory was a way bigger than my, but still it has the same model number.

I have attached picture, top memory is installed in my computer, the bottom one is the one I bought.

I was wonder if they can work together without any issues as I do not want to open the package and try because I wouldn't be able to send it back if there will be a problem with this.

I am looking for any help.
Thanks

No there is no loss in performance it is simply the height of the ram stick, they will perform the same. The only difference is the height as some of the bigger aftermarket coolers hang over 1 or sometimes 2 RAM slots on the board (the low profiles will fit under the cooler). The low profiles do run a little warmer than the standard sticks but unless you are overclocking the RAM you will not see any difference at all heat wise.
Hi

have a look at the identification & markings on the individual memory chips
If they are the same I would not worry

(ignore manufacturing date code but timing information is important)

regards

Mike Barnes

The larger memory module has a lot of unused space above the memory chips

The ram thats open is low profile and the one in the box is standard. They will work together without issue however the reason low profile ram is used is when an aftermarket or standard cooler is overhanging the RAM slots or you have a low profile board and case.

@zink1701
Do you saying that if I connect it, there can be performance loss?
