Something has gone seriously wrong with either the cooling or the CPU or both. I just built the system and I notice the NZXT kraken x60 was really loud so I checked the temperature and I was hovering around 85C at Idle. I used the method of putting on the thermal paste where you spread it out instead of just letting the pressure spread it. I don't know maybe I did it wrong it was the first time I used this method. These temperatures are so ridiculous that it seems like it would be obvious what the problem is but I cant figure it out. I might put the stock heatsink on to see what what happens. Any ideas what this could be?

I spread my thermal paste with a gloved finger and my 4770k hovers around 23C idle and 47C loaded so unless you put it on like cake frosting I don't think the application is the issue.

Have you tried to reapply, are you sure you have good contact between your cooler and the CPU?
