One of my computers connected to the network per ethernet cable running Windows 7 has stopped connecting to the internet !!
I turned my computer on this morning and I saw that there was a yellow triangle displayed on the right hand side tray, I first restarted my router with no luck.
After that I did a windows problem solving thing with an error message saying:

"Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration

I look around on the forums and Googled about the problem and have already done a few things that were suggested like:

- reset my WINSOCK LSP and TCP/IP stack settings
- fixed the "Windows cannot find 'UpdateTool.exe' " error, supposedly caused by Origin
- reinstalled the network adapter driver with the motherboard driver disk
- changed the Local area Connection IPv4 properies
- tried connecting in safe mode
- and disabled IPv6 related things on my computer as well as on my router

Does anybody have any other ideas ?
Every little bit of help is much appreciated,
Thanks

Thanks but refreshing the DNS cache didn't work.

I'm posting on this forum with my laptop connected via wireless LAN, my computer with the problem is a desktop.
The cable isn't plug directly into my router it goes over an adapter plugged into the wall.
I don't understand, what should I test ?
I just tried swapping the cable, no joy.

See, didnt think to mention lan over power line was important lol?

If the connection 'was' working and now not, then it could be the adapter. If you could move your desktop computer to the router and connect it directly would be a good test to see if it is the computer itself, adapter or something else.
