Hi,
So yesterday I reapplied some thermal paste and ran some test (my temps were a lot better than before) but today my pc randomly starts and shuts off. Can anyone help? Kind of freaking out.
Thanks,
Duke

I had this problem a few months ago with some thermal paste. Your PC is overheating for sure, I did some reading when this happened to me and found that toothpaste ( I know it sounds weird but trust me) works very well as thermal paste so I used toothpaste instead of the thermal paste. It fixed my issue but be warned the toothpaste can make it hard to remove the CPU cooler from the CPU, You can get it off its just not the easiest. If you don't want to do that did you overclock your CPU and you could try to apply more thermal paste.

Umm okay wanted some actual help not some troll telling me to apply toothpaste to my 200 dollar CPU. My problem is not overheating, at idle my temps are around 20 degrees celcius. The issue is fixed now though. I just plugged the PSU cable into a different wall socket.

I'll have you know I'm not here to troll I'm being completely serious, Look at this if you don't believe me. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080128214317AAaiYYl http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/Thermal-Compound-Roundup-July-2011/1334 The toothpaste keeps the CPU relativly cool if you look at the tests. Toothpaste, ketchup and mustard along with other things can be used as thermal paste though they are a short term fix since toothpaste will dry up and turn into dust within weeks.

Again I'm not here to troll just trying to help.
