Hey guys,

recently I've started mining Dogecoins with my new desktop, using it's R9 280X GPU. I also play games on it during the day and I tend to leave it on overnight mining so that it doesn't interrupt my play time. I want this desktop to last at least 3/4 years if possible.

I was just wondering what sort of temperatures it is acceptable to run the GPU at for 12+ hours as I may also leave it whilst I go to college. Bearing in mind that fan will probably be also going crazy, do you think that's a possible issue and the fan will have to be replaced if that's possible?

I don't know too much about this by the way, thanks for any problems!

Just in case you need to know I run it at about 70 degrees C at the moment for about 12 hours. The fan speed tends to run at 100% at a RPM of around 3400. It gets around 700kh/s as well :)

Honestly, I don't think bitcoin/litecoin mining is worth it anymore. When everyone wanted to make money, the difficulties of bitcoin shot up, making the people that already have bitcoins richer and people start losing money to hardware costs and electricity. In my point of view, someone probably has 50 bitcoins and got the hype up so their currency is really useful, then they sell it and earn the gross profit while everyone else is tricked into trying to mine for them. This is a personal experience as I have 15 bitcoins, as I bought them for 50 cents/bitcoin, then waited and now... I have a lot of money. This is most likely why bitcoin has no transaction recorders. It is the perfect way for people to steal money and never be able to be found.

SO... I recommend just buying litecoins eg. 3-10 of them for 100-1000 USD. This way if they do rise, you will earn a huge profit, but if they crash, then you won't lose as much money due to electricity and hardware costs. Also, in 3-4 years, using GPU's (like with bitcoin) will be useless as they will be too slow.
