Hey guys
I've been recently doing abit of over-clocking on my ASUS M2n68AM SE-2 motherboard with a Semprom 140.
I've been struggling getting it over 2.8ghz, since i'm still running stock-cooling, but today, I go on and decide to do some over-clocking, I decided to try and do something extreme, so I made it 250 x 13.5, expecting it not to work, BUT the system boots up perfectly fine.
So currently, as i'm writing this, I'm running a semprom 140 at 3.3Ghz on stock-cooling, which seems abit bizarre.

My question is. Is this hefty-overclock safe at all? would you recommend I lower it?

check your temps... if there touching 60 then dial it back.

I ran a quick 10 minute Furmark CPU Burner test and it got to 62 degrees, so I jumped into my bios and turned it down to about 2902 Mhz overall. Started getting max load temperatures of about 54. That's stable, right?

Something to keep in mind also that overclocking using the bus is a good way to keep your CPU temps low since you are not pumping the processor with voltage. The trade of is that you speed everything up which can cause I stability issues. Make sure you run prime95 and Intel burn test to make sure you are stable.

if its stable and your not throwing huge amounts of volts at it then yeah 54 should be ok but to be sure you want to run a cpu stress test. fur mark only really pushes the gpu and in an unbalanced way. so not really good for telling you what the cpu is doing... use prime 95 blend test for that.
the max temp for that cpu is 63'c so try to stay below 53'c also that cpu should run at 2.7 stock so getting up to 3.3 with good cooling should be doable.

Alright, I just put my CPU load up to 100% for about 55 minutes, its max temperatures shifted between 56/57, but it never got past that.

Would you say that's good to go?

What do you mean by "overclocking the bus"?

so close to the max temps i would say turn it down a bit till you get a better cpu cooler.
its not like your gonna get a whole lot of extra performance as the semperon is a very budget cpu. so running it balls to the wall wont make a huge difference if your trying to play games for instance.
even on apps like winrar that will benefit from higher cpu speeds your looking at maybe 2-5 seconds quicker on a file that takes 10 mins to unpack.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. The bus I'm referring to is your memory speed for example the 250 you mentioned in your original post.

Yeah, i'm just trying to get the most out of this little thing before I ditch it for an upgrade, which is well-due.
