What external drive would be good enough to run Linux?

I don't wanna run Linux on an internal drive. Just an external. I have 1TB Toshiba Canvio and a 3TB WD My Book. Which one of these two would be good to run it on? If not these two, what drives do you recommend?

Both of these drives claim to be USB 3.0, so make sure you connect them to USB 3.0 (blue) port on your desktop / laptop for maximum performance. Also, make sure your computer can boot off USB,

Either shouild be fine. You can actually run .linux off a 2 gb usb stick if ou want.
