If my C drive (with windows 7 installed on it) was to get a virus one day and i needed to use my system image disc to restore back to when i first created my system image, does it format the hard drive first so it starts fresh? (Also meaning it'll remove the virus if it formats the hdd first)
Thanks

Doing a system restore doesn't, but doing a system image will. Restore simply goes back to a previous date. But when you restore from a disk image you made, it will wipe everything you have now and replace it with what was saved at the time of making the image.

But if you have a virus, you should try running your virus program after doing an update and do a FULL scan to see if it can find the virus and quarantine it.
