problems connecting to internet

Hello I've just built my first computer and upon trying to connect it to the internet the startup cd says it cant find my network. However my router has tge light on for an active network

Ps I have a talktalk landline

Your network card may be defective, the cable you are using could be defective as well. Additionally, you may have drivers required before the network card will work. Try searching for drivers to either the NIC card, or your motherboard (if you are using the on-board network connection). You will need a computer with access to the internet for this, you should be able to find the drivers on the manufactuer's website. Best of luck to ya - Sub
