So long as your replacement motherboard is the same chipset (eg. Z87, H87) you won't need to re-install Windows.

You might have an issue with Windows activation/licencing but a quick call to MS support will resolve this.

On my X58 motherboard after replacing it with the exact make and model, Windows 7 worked for a few days after which it started giving problems. I re-installed the OS and re-activated it via telephone activation and everything was ok.

Same scenario with my Z77 motherboard replacement. Had to re-install Win 7 and use telephone activation.

In order to avoid problems I suggest that you re-install Windows, get it activated via telephone, and then re-install all applications. This is labor intensive and in this way you eliminate all variables.

shall i go without re installing and see if its fine ?

Yes you can. That's what I did on my older Windows 7 Pro on my X58 motherboard (exact make and model replacement).. It worked fine for a few days, maybe a week, after which it started having problems. Windows would not boot. That's why I re-installed Windows 7 Pro and then used telephone activation to activate it. The online activation would not work.

Make backups of all your files on to an external disk before you do anything.

Probably just do a fresh install then :)

Yes, that would work and work well! Backup your files first!

The fans speeds control is done in the UEFI BIOS and this will be explained in the User's Manual that comes with the motherboard (included). More info here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/#specifications

The POST beep speaker (tiny) is part of the motherboard. It may be hard wired or you may have to plug it on to the 'speaker' pins (headers).. All this will be explained in the manual.

Speedfan will work - http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

Do not use this on the CPU fan.

The objective is to increase the air flow inside the computer case. Even though I installed a fans speed controller in my computer, I let the fans run at full speed in order to have the maximum air flow. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999171

The fans speed controller makes the front of the computer look good, but I decided to let the fans run at full RPMs.
