Hi,

I just bought Creative Sound Blaster Recon 3D and Omega Wireless Headset Bundle. The Recon3D connects to usb port and provides a wireless connection to the Omega headphones. I heard popping and crackling after setting it up. I ended up connecting the optical cable from the Recon 3D to the Desktop even though the instructions say that the optical cable is just for the xbox and ps3. After I connected the optical cable the popping/crackling went away. Do you know what could be causing this issue if I just use the USB connection? Thanks.

The power supply in your computer is generating the noise. It can be simply hash noise on the DC voltage rails. Or, it can be noise on the ground rail.

Using an S/PDF isolates you from the noise. (if it was "thru the air" RF noise interfering with the head set then going to the optical cable would Not have fixed it...)
