Other than the price difference of about $8, I was wondering what the difference between the two RAM types in the title are. I am currently using KHX1600C9D3K2/8G and was trying to upgrade using KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX. After installing the new RAM my computer just restarted continuously. After changing out the sticks back to my old ones it worked just fine.

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. The main difference between the two modules is the part number ending in 'X' is XMP enabled. That means when you go into the BIOS of your machine you can select the XMP profile to overclock the RAM rather then set the timings manually. If part KHX1600C9D3K2/8G is compatible with your system part KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX should work properly. The new set of memory may also use different DRAM chips to achieve the same capacity and specifications as your original HyperX memory. I would recommend checking for and updating your BIOS as there is typically updates for additional memory support.
