How To Test Water Cooling For Leaks

So i ordered a corsair h80 and wonted to test it before i start assembling my system. Shall i assemble the computer outside of the case and let it run for a hour or so to check for any leaks. Also what shall i cover my components with ? tissue paper as thats what ive seen people do.

Also shall i use my artic mx-4 thermal paste or the pre applied rubbish ?

I would test the system in the case with everything installed. Just put some paper towel under any fittings just in case. If you already have the artic mx-4 there is no reason not to use it. Hope everything goes well!
