Sandisk Cruzer 8GB USB Flash turned in to 3GB

I am formating my USB device to boot iso files, and i rebooted my laptop, to find that the device is only showing (3.01GB) Memory, total.

I have tried reformating it a few times now, and problem still resides.

I dont really get what u did, but.
When i used my 4gb usb key as a boot drive. I allocated 1gb to the system.
Later when i plugged it back on, it showed 3gb. (4-1=3 made sense)
Had to use the installation programme to turn my usb back to 4gb after im done with it

http://puu.sh/6GJLV.jpg - Thats what it looks like now, I installed debian, and another linux OS and downloaded the Win32 Disk Imager. I then set it up to create the file to boot from usb, on the device. It failed midway through and I'm left with 3.01 GB Storage.
